HOW TO BE SAVED
Step One
God’s Purpose: Peace and Life
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life–abundant and eternal.
The Bible says…
“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Why don’t most people have this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have?
Step Two
The Problem: Our Separation
God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and a freedom of choice.
We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God.
The Bible says…
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Step Three
God’s Bridge: The Cross
People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God…
The Bible says…
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2
No bridge reaches God…except one.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Northgate Baptist Church is to glorify God by equipping its members to make disciples as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ.
VISION STATEMENT
At Northgate Baptist Church, we seek to express God’s love to people through the five core functions of the church:
- Evangelism We envision the introduction of the people of the Greenville, South Carolina area to Jesus Christ primarily through the work of a strong Sunday School that seeks to express God’s love through honest, relational evangelism. We will make disciples for Christ in our homes, church, and community.
- Discipleship We envision the development of our people into fully equipped servants of Christ through biblically-based discipleship education for all ages that we may mature into Great Commission Christian disciples. We envision using innovative ways to encourage Bible study at church and in our homes that we might make disciples for Christ.
- Fellowship We envision the development of a loving Christian fellowship through personal interaction with members and guests. We envision a Christian fellowship that supports the other functions of the church by providing innovative opportunities for people to come together in Christian love. We envision making all people to feel welcome and valued at God’s church at Northgate. We deeply desire to reflect Christ’s commandment that all will know us as His followers by the love we have for one another. (John 13:35).
- Ministry We envision equipping believers to become obedient disciples in missions and service for our Savior by expressing God’s love in ministry to all people everywhere. While we value people of all ages and life circumstances, we have identified youth, children and preschool ministry as being of paramount importance for the future of the church. We desire to create a culture that brings all people to Christ and ultimately maturity in Him by clearly communicating Christ’s mandate to make disciples. Our goal is for every church member to become a Great Commission Christian disciple by living out Matthew 6:33. We will seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
- Worship We envision worship as being dynamic encounters with the living God. Since an experience with God is, by its very nature exciting and life changing, we seek to create an atmosphere through music, prayer and biblically-based preaching where everyone can respond to God’s presence with genuine worship and praise. We envision worship as being a reflection of our stewardship responsibility to our gracious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We envision, through the power of prayer, the development of an attitude of expectation when we gather to worship. We envision worship as a celebration of the giving of our time, gifts, talents, finances and even our life’s breath for the glory of God.
